Description
500 internal server errors are common type of error in almost any type of Content Management System and other Custom bases websites as well. But they are different than 404s that have obvious causes, such as broken links and changing page URLs, you need to dig a little deeper to understand the problem.
The first thing you need to do is to check the PHP or Apache error logs from your Cpanel. Since 500 internal error messages do not tell you the reason of its occurrence so, you need to look for any traces that can help you find the culprit yourself. This is one of the most frustrating errors that can occur on your website. It never has a straightforward solution, requiring a lot of troubleshooting that can eat up your time and patience.
To view the error logs, sign into your web hosting control panel and go to the main “Websites/Domains” section. Just look for a menu or toolbar where you can find the “File Manager,” “Web Server Settings,” “PHP Settings” or anything similar; the “Logs” option should be there as well.
Below are some of the reasons why Internal Server Error shows on your site
- PHP Script Time Out
- Error in .htaccess File
- Faulty Plugins
- PHP Memory Limit
- Core File Errors
